The Africa Society of the National Summit on Africa

PEPFAR, HIV/AIDS, and Africa: A Twenty-Year Update

To mark World AIDS Day on Friday, December 1, The Africa Society, in partnership with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), hosted:

THE HONORABLE DR. MONDE MUYANGWA,
ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR FOR AFRICA
US AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (USAID)
in a discussion of PEPFAR policy in Africa

USAID has played a critical role in the global HIV/AIDS response and, since 2003, has helped lead the implementation of PEPFAR in coordination with governments, the private sector, and international organizations.  PEPFAR continues to deliver life-saving HIV treatment to more than 20 million people globally.

Medical advances mean people with HIV/AIDS should expect to enjoy long and healthy lives. We have the tools to stop HIV transmissions for good. But HIV/AIDS continues to be highly stigmatized and misunderstood, especially across Africa. Register to join us for this important discussion.
