Ambassador Young Lecture Series

The Africa Society extends its sincere appreciation to the Merck Company for Sponsoring the Ambassador Andrew Young Lecture Series on Africa.

The Ambassador Andrew Young Lecture Series on Africa features distinguished speakers whose work has impacted and advanced awareness of US-Africa relations. Named in honor of the former Chairman of The Africa Society Board, the Series were launched in 2002 and are hosted at African embassies on a rotational basis. We have organized a total of 13 lectures for the Series, which have attracted renowned personalities like Professor Ali Mazrui; Congressman Donald Payne; Congresswoman Barbara Lee; President Kenneth Kaunda; Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Dr. Jendayi Frazer; the Executive Secretary of ECOWAS, Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas; Ghanaian Ambassador to the US, His Excellency Dr. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei; Irish Entrepreneur and Philanthropist and Founder of The Niall Mellon Township Initiative in South Africa, Niall Mellon; and the Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Affairs in Ghana, Honorable Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.
