Presidential Tours of Africa Series

To carry out its Presidential Tours of Africa Series, The Africa Society has partnered with Discovery Communications, Inc to reach over 180 million households with positive and accurate information about Africa. These Series are unique because each country tour is led by the Head of State of the country. In 2003, for instance, President Kaguta Museveni conducted “Uganda: The Presidential Tour” while in 2005 President Kufuor played the same role for “Ghana: The Presidential Tour.” This groundbreaking film production essentially provides Americans with an in-depth tour and travel experience of Africa that is unprecedented, and portrays Africa as a dynamic and thriving commercial and social hub, thus offsetting negative stereotypes. Positive images of Africa are necessary for the promotion of tourism in the region, which in turn will enhance trade and other sociopolitical alliances.
