The UPS Foundation: Corporate Citizen of the Month for May
May 01, 2008
This May, The Africa Society is proud to name The UPS Foundation as our corporate citizen of the month. The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of the United States Parcel, was established in 1951 to develop and champion innovative solutions to problems. Today, it also enables non-profit organizations like ours, to engage and educate Americans about Africa through our various programs. As a company with a strong emphasis on social responsibility, UPS' commitment to education is vital to our efforts in transforming perceptions about Africa. A key component of the United Parcel Service is its volunteerism, encouraging employees to be hands-on in the communities in which they live and work. With the help of The UPS Foundation, The Africa Society is reaching out to large numbers of students from middle and high school level who will benefit from learning about Africa and its role in the global community as well as its importance to our own communities. We are committed to using The UPS Foundation's contribution to motivate the next generation and instill greater appreciation and knowledge about Africa. Our Board of Directors and staff proudly recognize UPS' achievements and its contributions to the larger community.
